Goal Setting is a must in order to get your life headed in the right direction. You must set long-term and short-term goals.
The first step in goal setting is to figure out what you would like to accomplish. Establishing a goal is like planning a blue print for your life. Without a blue print it is hard to build a foundation.
As Zig Zilgar stated "A goal properly set is halfway reached".
Once you are clear of the goals that you would like to accomplish; write them down. Start with your short-term goals and then move onto your long-term goals. Give yourself a time limit of when you would like to accomplish your goals, for example: (30 days, 1 year, 5 years etc.,).
A short-term goal can be to declutter your home or to pay off a bill in a few days or months.
A long-term goal, can be to purchase your dream home or to become a successful businessman or woman or to be able to be financially secure doing what you love.
Try not to make your goals something that you already know how to do. Your goals should be something that goes outside your comfort zone because it will cause you to reinvent yourself and force you to move to the next level. Think big!
Once you write your goal setting list, read it over as often as possible.
Bob Proctor came up with a great idea of creating a Goal Setting Card. Everything that you write on your goal setting card must be in present tense except for the date in which you would like to meet your goals, because no one knows exactly how long it will take to create your goals. For example (I am thankful for creating a million dollars in my bank account by the year end of 20--).
Keep your card in your pocket or in your purse and read it several times a day. This will remind you of what you wish to accomplish daily and the steps that you need to take in order to accomplished them.
Once you have set a meaningful goal, your life will change because you will start doing the things that are necessary to accomplish them which will make you to feel like you have a purpose.
You will feel different because you will change as a person in order to meet your goals, whether it is letting go of negative people around you or educating yourself by reading new books on the subject that you are pursuing or learning new skills to accomplish your goals.
In order to learn more about how to fulfill your goals, you should surround yourself with like-minded people who are doing what you would like to do in life.
Find a mentor or role model; it could be someone that you know personally or someone that you've never met. It could be your favorite motivational speaker or a successful business person, such as Bill Gates or Oprah Winfrey.
If you want to become an actor, study your favorite actor and take acting lessons. Actors program scripts in their minds by studying it, internalize it and then becoming the person in the script which is something that we all must do in order to accomplish our goals we must also write our own scripts.
We must see ourselves doing what we want to do and becoming it until it is actually ours.
If you want to become a singer, study your favorite singer and take vocal lessons. If you want to become a clothing designer, study your favorite designer and enroll fashion design school.
Come up with a goal setting plan, research the people that have done it before you. Find as many books as you can on the subject. Google it. Do what you have to do in order to get your juices flowing and ideas forming in your head to complete your goals.
There is nothing that you cannot do once you set your mind to it. Stay away from negative people, the naysayers who don’t believe in you.
If Amelia Earhart would have listen to the naysayers she wouldn’t have become the first women to fly across the world.
Follow your heart and your dreams and don’t let anyone tell you that you cannot do something.
Keep your goal setting notebook with you at all times because you may need it to write down ideas as they suddenly come to you.
As you become more serious and focused on reaching your goals, you will find that more and more ideas will come to you and you will need to record them immediately. This is something I do often.
Ideas usually come to me while I am listening to motivational cds, talking with my mentor or as I sleep and as soon as I wake up; I make sure to jot them down.
As you can see, inspiration can come from anywhere and at anytime, you never know when a great idea will come to you and you will be upset with yourself for trying to rely on your memory to recall them later on.
And most importantly to be effective with your goal setting you must believe in yourself, believe that you will reach all of the goals that you set.
If you want to be a famous singer, see yourself in concert singing in front of millions of fans. If you want to be a famous actor, see yourself starring in a huge blockbuster movie. If you want to buy a new house, see yourself living in the home of your dreams.
Don't worry about how you are going to reach your goals, you just need to know that you are going to reach them! Once you see it and believe it, ideas will come to you on how to achieve it.
Visualize yourself as already being or doing exactly what you set out to accomplish and make it as real as possible. Bob Proctor said, "you must see yourself reaching your goals which will then dictate your actions, and you will then succeed at meeting your goals."
Without goal setting you have no plan. And without a plan you will be stuck in your same everyday routine, making the same money and doing the same old things.
It is never too late to set goals. Do it today! As a matter fact get started on it right now!
Sending Happiness and Love,
